Winter Wedding at St Etheldreda’s Church
Winters in London can really produce some stunning photography, especially from a Winter Wedding at St Etheldreda’s Church. It can be very hard work, in low light environments, with mixed light sources. It makes it harder to focus and requires slower shutter speeds making blur a possibility. But I think that’s what makes it so exciting and exhilarating as a documentary wedding photographer. The rewards always make the extra effort worthwhile. With that in mind, check out Ellie and Jamie’s super Winter wedding at St Etheldreda’s Church in the slideshow above.
An Atmospheric London Church
I’ve photographed at this wonderful church a few times before, so I knew how challenging it can be. It’s tricky, light wise in the Summer. But a dusk wedding in December? With the reception in The Crypt below the church? But I love Winter wedding photography. That’s going to push us to the limit! I started my photography in the early afternoon over at the Zetter Townhouse where Ellie was getting ready with her family and friends. David headed over to The Crown Tavern where Jamie and several kilted groomsmen were easing pre-wedding nerves. We all met up at St Etheldreda’s Church in Ely Place to photograph the guests arriving before the Bride arrived with the last of the Winter London light.
Drinks Reception at The Bleeding Heart
After the wedding ceremony, the guests all headed to the Bleeding Heart Tavern where drinks were served before some entertaining and amusing speeches. We managed some quick group photos on the way back to The Crypt at St Etheldrada’s where the wedding breakfast was served. It’s a beautifully atmospheric cellar space, the perfect place for a great party to make the end of a superb Winter wedding in London.
