Hackney Round Chapel Wedding Photography
What an incredibly fun wedding this was to photograph! I knew it would be special from the moment I checked in on the preparations at the Round Chapel in Hackney. The building is maintained as an arts and community venue now, but the Grade II listed church had it’s origins in the 19th Century as a nonconformist congregationalist church. The unusual design of the church means it’s now become protected through it’s Grade II status, and is owned and managed by Hackney Historic Buildings Trust. There couldn’t have been a more fitting venue for Carrie and Neil’s wedding celebration, and I was really looking forward to working on their Hackney Round Chapel wedding photography with Kate.
Documentary Wedding Photography In London
While Neil was overseeing the preparations at the church, I headed over to Walthamstow where Carrie and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The laughter and sound of champagne corks popping gave me an early indication of how much fun the day was going to be. Carrie and Neil had to be the perfect clients for me, in that they had complete faith in my work as a documentary photographer. There was no posing for the camera, or any expectations of the kind of pictures I should take. That’s the perfect setting for letting me get the story telling pictures that I know they wanted me to capture.
The No 56 From Walthamstow To Hackney
Once the preparations were done, we all headed off to the bus stop to catch the number 56 towards Hackney, stopping to meet Carrie’s Father en route. Before long we’d arrived at the Round Chapel, and the unorthodox bridal procession started. You just have to watch the slideshow above to see how fabulous this wedding celebration was. Kate and I photographed through the speeches and food vans outside, leaving only when the partying was in full swing later that night.
