Chelsea Town Hall Winter Wedding

Between lockdowns last year, Imy and Guy got in touch whilst planning their Chelsea Town Hall Winter wedding. Guests were still limited, so this was to be a small, intimate ceremony at one of London’s fantastic Town Hall wedding venues. It would be a mid-week wedding towards the end of December, with  just a couple of hours photography needed. That’s no problem though, you can still tell a super story using documentary wedding photography techniques in just a short amount of time. So even during this post Covid-19 era, without preparation photography, fewer guests and no reception, couples are still able to get a great set of wedding photos that tell the story of their day.

Small Winter Wedding Ideas

With no preparation photography, I headed straight to Chelsea Town Hall to meet Guy and his parents before Imy arrived. This was a good time to photograph Guy and his family and to check in with the registrars who would be marrying Imy and Guy. Wedding photographer’s experiences with registrars recently have been varied, and could significantly affect the photography. Some registrars will not allow photographers to be present at all, sometimes just for the signing of the register. Chelsea and Westminster have some of the most relaxed registrars I’ve worked with, and were fine with me photographing the whole ceremony as usual.

Winter Wedding Portraits

After the wedding ceremony, the newly-weds left Chelsea Town Hall down the stone steps at the front of the building. We took a moment to take some quick family group photos on the steps before Imy and Guy left in a taxi. Family members headed back to their flat, whilst I joined Imy and Guy to visit a couple of their favourite London places for some portraits. We then re-joined the rest of the family, which is where my coverage ended. As you can see from the highlights here, even with just a couple of hours we were able to tell a great wedding story.
