Buckinghamshire Church Wedding
This Buckinghamshire church wedding was a lot of fun to photograph! Fellow photographer James Canon introduced Sarah and David to my work. I started at Sarah’s house for the preparations before making the short journey to St Faith’s Church in Newton Longville. Unfortunately the vicar there had decided that my presence during the ceremony would be just too disruptive. A previous traumatic experience with a wedding photographer had probably caused this. So I was banished to the very back during the ceremony. I’m fortunate that I’ve only encountered this kind of vicar once this year. It’s a real shame that couples don’t get a record of the actual marriage when this happens. I do try to reassure vicars that my quiet, documentary approach is extremely low impact, but my pleas went unheard on this occasion.

So I set a camera up on a remote release in the choir’s balcony, and was able to get a couple of nice wide views during the ceremony, as well as some longer lens pictures from the back. After the ceremony David had arranged a little surprise for Sarah in the form of their two dogs waiting to congratulate them outside, and a ride to the reception in Davids wonderful Claas Arion 530 tractor.
