Tipi Tents in the Oxfordshire Countryside

This Oxfordshire Marquee Wedding began with a church ceremony, followed by the reception in a marquee in the fabulous Oxfordshire countryside. This always promised to be a fabulous day with lots of opportunity for some great wedding photojournalism! And that began at the Boyers Arms in the beautiful Oxfordshire village of Radley, the setting for the days celebrations. I met Graham and the groomsmen there, for a swift pint to steady the nerves (theirs, not mine!). It’s great that I can include some coverage of the groomsmen before photographing the Bride for her preparations. It adds another element to the finished set of pictures.

Before joining Susie and her bridesmaids, I swung by her fathers farm. The wedding marquee company were putting the finishing touches to the collection of marquees that would provide the venue for the wedding breakfast after the marriage. It was a beautiful sight, seeing Tipi tents amongst the Oxfordshire countryside. -So with one eye on the weather, I headed on to start my photography of the brides preparations.

Respectful Photography in Church

Susie’s hair and makeup were pretty much finished. So it wasn’t long before myself and the bridesmaids headed over to St James The Great church in Radley for the wedding ceremony. It was unfortunate that Reverend Pam had made a blanket ban on photography from anywhere but the very back of the church. I’m a documentary photographer and never use flash or loud cameras during a ceremony. I respect the ceremony and the guests and want the couple’s ceremony to be totally unaffected by the photography. It’s a shame then that Susie and Graham will never have a picture they requested of Susie walking down the aisle looking past a nervous Graham. Or any quality photography from the actual marriage.

So it’s lucky that my coverage from the rest of their wedding day is so complete, hopefully bringing back some brilliant memories from their St Georges Day wedding.

Oxfordshire Marquee Wedding Photography

On to the wedding marquee back at the farm, and the weather was holding out, though a little blustery. Having the open Oxfordshire fields meant that my coverage was fairly varied. I was able to follow the laughter outside the marquee and explore both inside and out during the reception.
