The Old Hall in Ely has to be one of the very best wedding venues in Cambridgeshire. This superb country manor house is just a stone’s throw from the historic city of Ely. The large country house is set amongst some lovely gardens, with a stunning view across the Cambridgeshire countryside to Ely Cathedral. The newly renovated Jacobean manor house combines historic authenticity with all the mod cons a 21st century couple need to host a fabulous wedding party. As it’s an exclusive use venue, your guests can make it their home for the day, and make full use of the facilities, or just enjoy relaxing with a paper by the fireplace.

Ceremony in the Garden Pavilion

The sun was blazing in the blue sky as David and I arrived to start with Lai’s preparations. They’d planned an outdoor ceremony in the garden, so the clear late Summer skies were very welcome. While David found Julian and the guys getting ready at one side of the house, I began documenting the final preparations with Lai and her bridesmaids on the other. The wedding guests were assembled in the garden, and Lai looked incredibly elegant as she walked down the aisle in her Willowby wedding gown. The Garden Pavilion offers a great view for us as photographers, but also for the guests. We made the most of the glass Pavilion and super light during the ceremony as well.

A Super Cambridgeshire Country Manor

After the wedding ceremony, guests made full use of the grounds and lake, while we took care of a few formal family group photos. Then, as the guests made their way into the marquee for the wedding breakfast, Lai and Julian took a stroll around the lake together while I captured some beautiful natural portraits. They soon headed back into the marquee for the meal and then the wedding speeches from the Father of the Bride, groom and Maid of Honour. As the sun was setting, the curtains drew back to reveal the newly-weds first dance. THe party was in full swing by the time we said goodnight!
