Ridge Farm Wedding Photography in Surrey
This was one fun filled summer wedding in the heart of the Surrey Hills! Emma and Dean had planned a superb celebration at Ridge Farm, and the details they’d gone to were evident straight away. This charming 16th century country farmhouse is set amongst some incredible grounds and gardens, and is the perfect setting for the outdoor Humanist ceremony they’d planned. And coming from a theatrical background, the props and details set around the house and gardens reflected this all the way. But the dressing of such a gorgeous wedding venue can only go so far. The final part of the jigsaw to a successful, exciting wedding day is the guests. And we weren’t disappointed on that front!
Brides Prep at the Bridal Cottage
We started the morning with Dean and the guys, getting ready in the main farmhouse. It was early, and beers had been opened. It was a good sign that there would be lots for us to photograph! I was honoured to have Kate Jackson second shooting with me, and I left the guys in her capable hands while I went off to find Emma and the bridesmaids. When a couple hires Ridge Farm for their wedding day, they get exclusive use of the entire complex, including the tennis court, poorhouse, spa and sauna, and the bridal cottage. And that’s where I headed to start photography with Emma. It’s a pretty compact cottage, and when it’s full of bridesmaids, Mothers, make up artists and a dog, things can get a little tight. But it’s all that energy and movement that makes for some great documentary wedding photography.
Tug-of-War and Limbo
The sun beat down for the outdoor ceremony, and we had to choose our angles well. That lead on to the drinks reception on the lawn before the wedding breakfast down in the Poolhouse. We were treated to some superb speeches before the guests headed out into the evening sunlight for garden games. It appeared that ‘Limbo’ was a bit of a thing amongst Emma and Dean’s friend, which made for some entertaining photography!
Before long, we were back inside for the newly weds First Dance. We stayed to cover some more of the evening dancing before our coverage ended.
