Outdoor Wedding at Rumbolds Farm
Becky and Benny’s Outdoor Wedding at Rumbolds Farm was a real stunner! Not just because it was the hottest day of the year (33.2 Celcius), or that the West Sussex barn is a superb venue for a party. Or even because of the massive musical talent on display from pretty much everyone present. It was the whole combination that made their wedding day full of fun and joy – the perfect setting for natural documentary wedding photography. My coverage started with Becky’s preparations in the Bridal Cottage. Rumbolds Farm is a self contained wedding venue and has on site accommodation for up to 20 guests, so I was able to photograph Benny and the groomsmen getting ready for the wedding ceremony at the same time.
Wedding Ceremony on the Lawn
Rumbolds Farm is surrounded by hundreds of acres of pasture and ancient woodlands. The 16th Century barn is the highlight, but the lakeside gardens are the perfect setting for a sun-drenched outdoor wedding ceremony. Becky and Benny’s ceremony was heartfelt and accompanied by great music, which would set the tone for the rest of the day. After the newly-weds walked back down the aisle through the confetti, guests could relax in the stone courtyard or enjoy the sunshine in the garden. We used the gardens for some quick family group photos and the lakeside walk made the perfect backdrop for some couple portraits.
Festival Themed Wedding Party
After the wedding breakfast and speeches in the Barn, the party really got going. The evening theme was Festival, and the guests were treated to a wide array of music, including the Mother of the Groom joining the band for a guest appearance on bass guitar. Headlining were the superb Old Dirty Brasstards. To quote from their website – ‘Tweed-clad 10-piece brass powerhouse, Old Dirty Brasstards, burst onto the scene in 2012 with their exhilarating party jams and unique interpretations of indie classics.’ They really do know how to get the party going, and by the time my coverage ended, the Becky and Benny were in the middle of a heaving dancefloor.
