Church wedding in East Sussex
Here’s Madeleine and Charlie’s church wedding in East Sussex. Coverage started with Charlie and a pre-wedding lunch at the pub before I headed over to photograph the end of Madeleine’s preparations. I then headed over to St John the Baptist church in nearby Wadhurst to capture Charlie greeting guests as they arrived for the church wedding. This Grade II listed church in Tidebrook was the perfect setting for Madeleine and Charlie’s marriage, with space for guests in a 1st floor gallery as well as their superb choir. Charlie is a very talented baritone at the ENO, and stunning music was a big feature during the ceremony.
Barn Wedding in the Winter
There was confetti outside after the wedding ceremony while it was still light, before guests made their way over to Old Walland barn for drinks, food and dancing. We took advantage of the last of the day’s daylight to do some quick couple portraits, leaving the family group photos until later in the evening. Charlie’s son announced the couple into the barn, and made a super Best Man’s speech before the dancing kicked off. Winter weddings like this can be challenging to photograph, but there’s always great moments to capture.
Light During a Winter Wedding
Light is the most important element in photography, and planning your day around the expected light levels can really help the photography look stunning. Aim to leave a short amount of time for both the couple portraits, and any family group photos while there’s still good daylight. Otherwise, ensure there’s enough space indoors for your photographer to set up some additional lighting.
