Intimate Wedding at Islington Town Hall
It was my second time in a row at this North London wedding venue for Rachel and Michael’s intimate wedding at Islington Town Hall. It’s a really popular place for a London wedding, and is the perfect location for a small, intimate wedding ceremony during these post-pandemic, socially distanced times. The staff at Islington Town Hall are true wedding professionals, and everything always runs smoothly. They’ve adapted the venue and their procedures to accommodate socially distanced weddings, and everyone felt safe throughout the ceremony.
Bride and Groom’s First Look
My day started earlier at Rachel and Michael’s home in North London. I photographed the final preparations with Rachel, and then Michael’s ‘first look’ as he saw Rachel in her wedding dress for the first time. The Bride and Groom meeting before the ceremony isn’t usual in the UK – it’s more of an American tradition, but is becoming more popular, especially for socially distanced weddings. These encounters always make super photos, check out Michael’s reaction below!
Wedding Meal at Fredericks, Islington
We arrived at Islington Town Hall just before a planned protest about local parking began. As Michael’s parents couldn’t return from New Zealand following the Covid-19 outbreak, the whole ceremony was streamed live for them, allowing them to be part of the day as well. After the ceremony, we slipped out the side entrance as the protest was still in full swing, and headed to Fredericks where some of Rachel and Michael’s friends had gathered for a meal.
