Fairfax Barn Wedding at Leeds Castle
I loved photographing this Fairfax Barn wedding. One of the great things about being a wedding photographer in the UK (apart from photographing happy people on such a great day in their lives!) is the super venues we get to work at. These are places that I wouldn’t normally get to see, across the whole of the country. So I was really looking forward to Katie and Jason’s Leeds Castle wedding photography, as it’s a castle I’d never visited before. The reception was being held in The Fairfax Barn, a 17th Century Kentish timber framed barn, with stunning views over the Castle. But before the guests enjoyed that view, we started the preparation photography a few miles away at Boughton Monchelsea Place.
Glorious Kent Views
This 16th Century country house is set amongst an extensive deer park giving gorgeous views over the Weald. It’s been the home of many members of parliament for Kent, and it’s easy to see why. On a glorious Summer morning, it made the perfect setting for Katie and her bridesmaids to get ready for the wedding ceremony. While I was making the most of the light at the house, David was busy capturing the guests arriving at the neighbouring St Peter’s Church. Before long, Katie was ready, and made the short walk through the grounds to the church entrance where Vicar Yvonne led a beautiful marriage ceremony.
Castle Wedding Reception
The grounds of Boughton Monchelsea Place gave us a great backdrop for the reception drinks and portraits. Guests were thoroughly enjoying the views across Kent, making our style of documentary wedding photography an easy fit. We then boarded a double decker bus for the ride over to Leeds Castle for drinks on the terrace overlooking the fortifications and moat. Dinner was served during this Fairfax Barn wedding, followed by some entertaining speeches and the couples first dance.
