Punting at a Cambridge Wedding
I was looking forward to the last weekend in August as Vicky and James had organised something special in Cambridge for their wedding guests. It always makes super photographs when the guests are involved in something different during the wedding day, and this would be my first time photographing punting at a Cambridge wedding.
Recommended Wedding Photographer
Vicky and James wanted natural wedding photos without any fuss or long portrait sessions. They’d seen my work from their friends Adam and Rachael’s wedding a few years earlier, so they knew that I was the right photographer for them. My day started with Vicky’s preparations at home in Cambridge. Vicky’s Dad welcomed me with a cup of tea before I started photographing the bridesmaids final preparations.
Wedding Ceremony at Westminster College
After a mid morning power nap, Vicky and James 8 month old son looked the part in a smart outfit to match his Dad’s. After Vicky was dressed I headed off to Westminster college for the ceremony.
Guests gathered in the college chapel to wait for the bride to arrive. Word soon followed that the vintage wedding car had broken down, but a taxi had been summoned. The registrars were on a tight deadline for the next wedding, but in the nick of time Vicky and her Dad arrived.
Punting on the River Cam
After the ceremony, everyone walked the short distance to the River Cam to start the wedding punting in Cambridge. Picnics and bubbles appeared, and soon a fleet of punts containing wedding guests was making its way through the colleges and bridges of Cambridge. The river was busy, with swans and Hen parties weaving through the traffic. We saw one person fall in, though thankfully not from the wedding party!
Back at Westminster college we got the family group photos done quickly before everyone headed in for the wedding breakfast and speeches.

Maybe you’re thinking about getting married at one of the Cambridge colleges. You might be planning a trinity college cambridge wedding or a wedding at Kings College for Jesus College.
