Here’s the second image chosen by Giac from his and Jessica’s destination wedding in Portofino, Italy. This has been captured at dusk during the portrait session. Though I am a documentary photographer, and the vast majority of my day is spent finding and capturing the kind of story telling images you can see all over this website, I do spend around fifteen minutes making a set of portraits. I use my experience as an editorial photographer at The Times to get a dozen or so portraits in a short space of time. There’s no complicated lighting or awkward poses. I much prefer my clients to be as relaxed as possible, and for me to just capture them as they are. Here’s why Giac loves this photograph:
“Again, this was a rare moment of peace during an otherwise energy packed, slightly frantic and wonderful evening. It was “staged” but the actions and the poses came very naturally (both the holding of hands, touching of noses, smiles…) in a beautiful setting. Jess and I particularly love the serene setting and balance of light you were able to achieve.”
