Destination Wedding Photography in Spain
The planning for Sophie and Tim’s Destination Wedding photography in Spain, began pre-Covid, back in 2019. So it was a real pleasure to be part of their week long celebrations when at long last the wedding took place in the Summer of 2023, culminating in a stunning wedding ceremony and party at Hacienda Zorita in Salamanca, Spain. But before heading off to Madrid, there was a smaller family gathering in London for their civil ceremony at Fulham Palace on the River Thames. That day started at Richmond Hill Hotel where Sophie was getting ready with her parents and sister’s family. After the hair and makeup were complete, the journey across the river to Fulham was by horse-drawn carriage – a stunning way to arrive at the historic home of Bishops of London for more than 1,300 years.
Registrar Wedding Ceremony at Fulham Palace
Fulham Palace is a pretty versatile place to get married. The Grade I listed building has it’s own chapel for blessings, as well as four licensed rooms for civil ceremonies. It can cater for a handful of close family guests up to several hundred guests in the Tudor Courtyard. Sophie and Tim’s intimate wedding for their close family was in Bishop Terrick’s Dining Room, followed by drinks and canapes in the courtyard. The newly-weds then had a tour of the area in the horse drawn carriage, before some portraits and family group photos in the private gardens. Coverage of their celebrations paused then, to continue at the end of the week and hundreds of miles away in Salamanca, Spain.
Pre-Wedding Horse Show in Spain
The setting for Sophie and Tim’s Destination wedding in Spain was the beautiful hotel and spa Hacienda Zorita. Dating back to 1336, the Hacienda is a former monastery, before providing accommodation and home grown food to the professors of the University of Salamanca. Notably, Christopher Columbus spent a long period of time in the monastery in 1487 whilst planning a new route to the Indies, leading to the discovery of the Americas. Before the wedding celebrations on Saturday, guests were invited to the nearby town of Ledesma where the town’s historic Bull Ring hosted a private horse show. After a thrilling display, guests toured the town before heading back to the Hotel and Spa in preparation for the wedding ceremony the following day.
Wedding Ceremony at Luxury Venue in Spain
As the Hacienda was the only venue for the whole day, I could easily slip between Sophie’s preparations and Tim’s throughout the morning. There were lots of great documentary moments during the prep, before guests gathered in the chapel. It was a truly memorable moment when the chapel doors swung open and Sophie and her Father walked down the aisle. Confetti was handed out towards the end of the ceremony, and the newly-weds emerged into the early evening Spanish sunlight to get the drinks reception started. Hacienda Zorita has some stunning grounds, and guests made the most of them as the afternoon led to the evening meal and speeches. As always with complex wedding plans, the celebrations run super smoothly when there’s some talented wedding professionals involved.
