Destination Portofino Wedding Photographer
Being asked to be the wedding photographer at someone’s Destination Wedding is a real high point. Especially as a Portofino wedding photographer at the magnificent La Cervara in Italy. The abbey dates back to the 14th Century. Its perfect location overlooking the sea near Portofino means it’s been visited by Royalty and celebrities through the years. Including playing host to footballer Wayne Rooney’s wedding in 2008 and Rod Stewart’s in 2007.
Wedding Preparations at the Abbey
I began my coverage by photographing Jessica’s preparations at the abbey. Following that, I moved to the courtyard, the setting for the wedding ceremony. Giacomo and the rest of the groomsmen were also getting ready at the abbey. So I was able to photograph both sides of the preparations before the guests began arriving for the ceremony.
Beautiful Italian Light
Jessica entered the cloisters with her Mother. They walked down the central aisle in the centre of the courtyard. The priest gave a beautiful ceremony in the courtyard. Then there was a confetti walk through the covered walkway to the drinks reception in the abbey’s gardens. The beautiful evening sunlight enhanced the amazing sea view. There was plenty of opportunity to capture some great natural moments.
We did some very quick family pictures and a couple of portraits. Then the evening celebrations began with a twilight wedding breakfast on the terrace. That was followed by the cutting of a most spectacular wedding cake. The party moved into another section of the gardens for the late night dancing. My coverage ended in the small hours with the party still in full swing.
