Destination Wedding Photographer Sri Lanka
It’s pretty special to be asked to be someone’s Wedding Photographer, let alone their Destination Wedding Photographer in Sri Lanka. And when the destination is the luxury Blue Water resort in Sri Lanka, you know it’s going to be a great celebration. Put that together with a wonderfully relaxed couple like Shalini and Rav, and it’s a near perfect day for a photographer.
Open Air Ceremony By The Beach
The day started with Shalini’s preparations at the hotel. I was able to do some pictures of the guys getting ready as well as everything was at the same venue. The humidity did cause some problems with hopping in and out of air-conditioned rooms and the lenses steaming up. By the time the guests arrived, the hotel gardens looked glorious. A purpose built open marquee looked stunning, with the palm trees illuminated with fairy lights.
Rav arrived at the ceremony first with his parents. Closely followed by Shalini with hers and her bridesmaids. It was probably the longest aisle walk I’ve seen, preceded with some traditional dancers. The traditional Sinhalese ceremony took place under a Poruwa, before the couple joined their guests in the beautiful gardens. We took ten minutes to shoot a few portraits of the newly weds. Then some family group photos before darkness fell. There was a short firework display and some fire dancers led into the meal and evening entertainment.
I kept photographing into the late evening and left while the dancing was still going strong. Here’s a selection of my favourite pictures from this lovely wedding.
