Autumn Wedding at the Barn at Alswick

Here’s Sophie and Andrew’s preview slideshow from their Autumn wedding at the Barn at Alswick in Buntingford, Hertfordshire. A super wedding venue with a great courtyard to enjoy some Autumn sun. The 16th Century barn was the perfect location for the ceremony, and made a great party space later in the day. My photography started with Sophie’s preparations at the Barn where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids and family. As Andrew and the groomsmen were also getting ready across the courtyard, I was able to cover both sides of the preps before everyone gathered for the ceremony in the Barn.

Natural Documentary Wedding Photography

After the wedding ceremony, everyone headed outside into the beautiful Autumn day. There’s a great driveway at the venue, so guests gathered there to throw confetti at the newly-weds before enjoying the drinks reception in the sunny courtyard. This is one of my favourite times to capture natural, unposed wedding photographs, and I made great use of the super light available.

Wedding Breakfast in a Barn

As guests found their seats for the wedding breakfast, Sophie and Andrew had a wander around the gorgeous gardens which made a perfect setting for some couple portraits. Everyone was seated and ready for the wedding breakfast by the time they returned to the Barn, with the speeches following. My coverage continued up to the dancing. By the time I left, the party was getting going and the band had everyone up and on the dancefloor.
