Self Designed Wedding Dress
The thing with London Weddings is there is such a variety of venues in the capital. There are infinite possibilities for couples to make the day as unique as they are. And Shanie and Pete designed a stunning day for their guests in East London. I started my coverage by photographing Shanie and the bridesmaids getting ready at an apartment. It was a pretty busy place with lots of bridesmaids. There were children with loom bands and an emotional Father of the Bride waiting to see his daughter in her self designed wedding dress. Shanie didn’t disappoint when she emerged in a stunning black and red lace dress that she’d designed herself.
Double Decker London Wedding Bus
The whole bridal party then boarded a London bus for the short journey to All Saint’s Church in Poplar for the ceremony. Shanie and Pete both work for Transport for London, and the double decker bus was the start of a transport themed wedding. Shanie’s Dad looked pretty proud as he walked his daughter down the aisle. And Pete got a stunning view of Shanie’s self designed wedding dress.
Community Centre Wedding Reception
Following a beautiful marriage ceremony, we did some group photos and portraits in the church grounds. We then followed the guests over to St Matthias Community Centre for the wedding breakfast. The building is the oldest in Docklands, and the former church now serves as a community centre. The 17th century interior had been thoroughly transformed by the amazing J&J Occasions, giving wonderful setting for the meal and party.
I continued to photograph through the wedding breakfast and speeches, on to the start of the dancing when the party was really getting going. Scroll down to see some of my favourite photographs from the day.
