Wedding Preparations at Home
Rivervale Barn in Hampshire is a fabulous Oak Wedding Barn on the banks of the River Blackwater in Hampshire. I was delighted when Caroline and Roger asked me to be their wedding photographer. And that was before the surprise horse drawn carriage at Rivervale Barn! But before I got to explore that venue I began at Caroline’s parents house. She was getting ready with her Maid of Honour and brother and parents. I do love photographing preparations in the house where the bride grew up. There’s a lot of sentimentality attached giving me another element to add into the photography.
Surprise Horse Drawn Carriage at Rivervale Barn
Before Caroline left, her Dad had a little surprise for her. Instead of a wedding car pulling up outside to take them to the church, he’d arranged for a horse drawn carriage. It was in recognition of her lifelong love of animals, and horses in particular. So it was in that style that she and her Father arrived at St Peter’s Church where her fiancé and guests were waiting.
Champagne Reception at Rivervale Barn
After a lovely ceremony, Roger and Caroline rode the carriage the short distance to the reception. There, the horse drawn carriage at Rivervale Barn was welcomed with champagne. The clouds were darkening, so we took the opportunity to use the wonderful gardens for some quick portraits. We also did some family group pictures in the courtyard. The barn makes a perfect setting for the wedding breakfast before everyone joined the newly weds on the dance floor for the first dance.
