A Froyle Park Indian Wedding
The Froyle Park Indian wedding photography that you see here was the third and final part of my photographing Sheena and Jason’s fabulous Indian wedding celebrations. The week had started with a civil ceremony at Home House in London. It’s a classic London club house with understated style and elegance. It was perfect for a smaller family celebration and meal. After that I photographed the Mehndi at Sheena’s parents house in North London. The next venue was the fabulous Froyle Park, a fantastic Jacobean manor house dating back to 1620. It was to be the perfect setting for the large Indian ceremony and celebration that was planned, with a ballroom, extensive grounds and an oak panelled Great Hall.
Colourful wedding ceremony
My coverage began with Sheena’s preparations at Froyle Park, whilst my colleague Joan caught up with Jason and the guys. Meanwhile, the ceremony got underway with the Jaan procession, where the groom’s family are welcomed by the bride’s family. There was lots of enthusiastic singing and dancing from Jason and his family. After lunch came the Pokhnu ceremony in the Ballroom. That was followed by Sheena’s arrival for the main part of the marriage in the Mandap.
After the ceremony was finished, the guests moved out into the sunshine for ice cream while we did some very quick family group pictures. The black tie evening celebrations began in the Great Hall where there was some fabulous window light, perfect for my style of documentary wedding photography. Finally moving back to the ballroom for the dinner and speeches. We photographed the first dance and some of the partying before saying goodnight to the newly weds.
