Church Wedding in Hemel Hempstead

Ange and Chris’ Church Wedding in Hemel Hempstead was a long time coming, with COVID bringing many date changes since they first got in touch back in 2019. But the day finally arrived, and it was great to meet Angelica as she was getting ready at home with her Mum and bridesmaids. I spent about an hour photographing their final preparations. Just before Ange got into her wedding dress, her Father arrived, so I was able to capture the moment her saw her ready to get married before I headed off to St John’s The Evangelist Church in nearby Boxmoor.

Noon Summer Sun

Chris was welcoming wedding guests as they arrived at the church in the glorious early Summer sunshine. Midday summer sun can be tricky to photograph in, so I had to be aware of using the light in the best way to avoid heavy, unflattering shadows. I knew this would be an issue after the ceremony as well, with the family group photos, so I was on the lookout for a good location to do these later. Ange arrived in a beautiful VW Beatle from Honey’s Weddings, before being walked down the aisle by her Father. Unfortunately, the church restricted photography during the ceremony, so I photographed Ange’s arrival, then my coverage continued as the newly-weds signed the register and left the church as husband and wife.

Garden Marquee Reception

Outside, I photographed the confetti and then some group photos and portraits before everyone headed off to Chris’ parents house where they were hosting the wedding breakfast. I had an opportunity to continue the story-telling photography at the reception, before some wedding speeches and BBQ wedding breakfast. Enjoy Ange and Chris’ preview slideshow above.
