A Fantastic Pub Wedding Venue in Sussex
I had provided The Bell in Ticehurst Wedding Photography before, for Jessica and Cristiano’s wedding. But it was only for the groom and groomsmen’s pre-wedding ceremony drinks, so I didn’t know what a fabulous wedding venue it would be. But that soon became apparent when I arrived for Katie and Simon’s wedding there back in February. The sixteenth century coaching inn is full of character and charm. At it’s heart, it’s just a great English country pub. An amazing refurbishment means it’s also the perfect setting for a unique wedding party too. The attention to detail around the pub makes it a real pleasure to photograph. I was able to find some interesting angles and great light all over the venue.
The Table in the Stable
The guests arrived and settled in downstairs in the bar whilst Katie finished her bridal preparations upstairs. Overlooking the High Street in Ticehurst, Katie got a glimpse of everyone arriving downstairs. She was of course careful not to let Simon see her though! The ceremony was in The Big Room which had been decorated with wild flowers in jars and balloons filled with ferns by Early Hours. After the ceremony, tradition at The Bell is that the bride and groom enter the Stable downstairs and walk across the table top. Luckily, Katie kept steady on her Louboutin’s and didn’t stumble!
The February weather meant that we couldn’t venture outside for some portraits or the group photos. So we used The Snug instead, before heading back upstairs for the wedding breakfast and the start of the partying.
