Wedding Photos at Redcoats Barn in Hitchin
When Jo and Stuart first got in touch about their wedding photos at Redcoats Barn in Hitchin, I knew straight away their day was going to be something special. Their email was full of warmth, humour, and personality – and that’s exactly what their wedding turned out to be. They weren’t looking for anything too formal or traditional; instead, they wanted relaxed, natural photography that captured real moments and the fun of the day.
A Day Full of Personality and Joy
Set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, Redcoats Barn in Hitchin is one of my favourite venues to photograph. It’s the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, with open fields, converted barns, and cosy corners for guests to enjoy. Although Jo and Stuart had originally hoped for an outdoor ceremony, the weather had other ideas – but the indoor space at Redcoats Barn provided just as beautiful a setting. The ceremony felt intimate, filled with emotion, laughter, and the warmth of everyone gathered close together.
Afterwards, guests enjoyed drinks, garden games, and the sounds of a live band while a relaxed BBQ meal set the tone for the evening. The atmosphere was easy-going and full of laughter – exactly as Jo and Stuart had hoped.
Informal Moments and Natural Photography
Jo and Stuart’s brief was simple: nothing too posed, just genuine storytelling. From the final touches of “getting ready” through to the start of the evening dancing, the focus was on capturing real emotion and connection.
Golden hour gave us some great light for a short couple’s shoot – nothing staged, just a few quiet moments together while the evening buzzed in the background. It’s these relaxed, in-between moments that really show the personality of a day like this.
