Spring Wedding at Fulham Palace
A Spring wedding at Fulham Palace really is a great day to photograph. When the sun is shining with the promise of great light, the documentary possibilities at a Fulham Palace wedding really are endless. But before that, my wedding day coverage began with Grace’s preparation in West London where she was getting ready with her sister and other bridesmaids. Once Grace was ready to leave, her Father arrived, making a touching scene when he saw her in her wedding dress for the first time. I then headed over to Fulham Palace where Peter was busy greeting family and guests as they arrived for the wedding ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony in the Great Hall
Fulham Palace is a pretty versatile wedding venue, and they have plenty of options for the ceremony depending on the style and size of wedding. For this lovely Spring wedding, the ceremony was to be held in the Great Hall, the oldest room in the Palace which dates from 1495. The Hall has been altered several times in it’s lifetime, and hosted Elizabeth I for dinner on her visit in 1600 when a silver salt dish was stolen! Wedding guests soon began to fill the room as we waited for Grace and her bridesmaids to arrive. She stepped out of the taxi in the courtyard in strong Spring sunshine before her Father walked her down the aisle in the Great Hall.
Spring Showers at Fulham Palace
Wedding guests lined the exit from the Palace in the courtyard, and greeted the newly weds with confetti as they walked into the sunshine. There was a drinks reception in the courtyard and we did some family group photos beside the chapel. As guests were being seated in the marquee for the wedding breakfast, we headed out into the Palace gardens for some quick portraits. Half way through, the Spring sun gave way to a traditional Spring shower, cutting the portraits a little short. After the meal and speeches, the wedding party began back in the main Palace building with their First Dance before the dancefloor filled up.
