Summer Wedding at Waltham Forest Town Hall – Fiona & Leon
Fiona and Leon’s Summer Wedding at Waltham Forest Town Hall was a relaxed and elegant celebration in one of East London’s most iconic civic buildings. From the moment Fiona first got in touch, it was clear they wanted a simple, unfussy approach to photography – coverage of the ceremony, drinks in the Annex, and time outside for family groups and a short portrait session. “I saw your photos of the micro wedding at Waltham Forest Town Hall and it is completely the style that we like,” Fiona wrote. With a Friday summer date and a tight two-hour window, it was a perfect fit for short coverage.
A Modern London Ceremony with Classic Architecture
The day began with guests gathering in the newly regenerated Fellowship Square, a striking backdrop for a summer wedding. Waltham Forest Town Hall is known for its Art Deco architecture, wide stone steps, and sweeping lawns, but on a warm August afternoon the fountains in the square really come to life. It’s a space that feels both modern and timeless – ideal for natural, honest wedding photography that captures the atmosphere as it unfolds.
Fiona and Leon arrived shortly before their 12pm ceremony, and the Registrars welcomed everyone into the grand chamber. After a warm and personal ceremony, the newly-married couple led their guests to the Annex Room for a toast. The short walk through the landscaped courtyard always brings great moments: hugs, laughter, and those little glances between people who are still taking the day in.
Drinks, Family Photos & Time in Fellowship Square
Following the reception drinks, we stepped outside for a relaxed set of family photographs by the fountains – parents, siblings, their sons, and close friends. With a smaller wedding group, it was efficient and easy, leaving time for a gentle wander across the square for some portraits of the two of them before my coverage wrapped up at 1:30pm.
