Hatfield House Wedding Photographer
Hatfield House Wedding Photographer
As a recommended Hatfield House wedding photographer in Hertfordshire, I’m lucky enough to be able to photograph there several times a year. It’s a superb wedding venue, with plenty of scope for some interesting angles, just right for my work as a Documentary wedding photographer! I use the 20 years experience as a news photojournalist at The Times in London to make sure I tell the story of your wedding day beautifully and naturally. I won’t direct you or turn your wedding day into a photoshoot! I want you to have as much fun as possible with your family and friends, and trust your photographer to get the kind of images you can see on the links below.
A Superb Wedding Venue Near London
The Old Palace is the stunning 15th Century mediaeval banqueting hall available for wedding celebrations just a stones throw from London. It was originally built by the Bishop of Ely and formed a quadrangle around a courtyard. It’s most commonly known as the childhood home of Elizabeth I. It was under an Oak tree in the Park where she first learned of her succession to the thrown, and her first Council of State was held in the Banqueting Hall. In 1607 the Palace changed hands and most of the original Palace was demolished, leaving the remaining wing which was used as the stables for Hatfield House for the next three centuries. You can still see the gunshot damage in the original roof timbers where sparrows were shot at after flying in as the building was in use as the stables.
Relaxed Documentary Style Photography
In 1915 the Old Palace was restored, and is now available for marriage ceremonies and wedding receptions. It’s a superb venue for my style of relaxed, unposed photography. The vast openness of the Banqueting Hall means there’s scope for great wedding ceremony pictures. The gardens outside provide a stunning backdrop for the group photos as well as a great setting for drinks and canapés.
There’s a number of Palaces available for weddings, usually former Bishops homes. I’m lucky enough to have photographed at a few of them, check out some of my Palace wedding photography.
