London Wedding Reception at The Crypt
After a lovely Church wedding at St Peter’s Church in East London, Christina and Cyrus had a super London wedding reception at The Crypt on Ely Place. Church weddings are great for documentary wedding photography, and St Peter’s gave me lots of opportunity to find great story-telling moments. Cyrus greeted guests as they arrived at the church in De Beauvoir in Hackney before Christina and her Father arrived for the start of the wedding ceremony. The long aisle gave me a great view as Christina reacted to seeing Cyrus at the altar. After the ceremony, the newly-weds exited church through confetti, before drinks were served at the start of the reception.
Reception at The Bleeding Heart
As the light faded, a London double decker bus ferried everyone across London to the Bleeding Heart where the next part of the reception was taking place. Bus journeys make a great transition in story-telling photography, linking two locations nicely. There was plenty of time for guests to catch up with family members and friends before the wedding breakfast started just a short walk away at the Crypt under St Etheldreda’s church on Ely Place. This is a stunning location for an atmospheric wedding party, amongst alcoves and pillars beneath one of London’s most historic churches.
Documentary Wedding Photography in London
My coverage ended after the speeches and First Dance. I’m based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, which is just 30 miles North of London. I photograph weddings around the country, but the vast majority are in London and the South East.
